We have been staying here for many years on our way to the Cape, and always find the accommodation neat, clean and comfortable. Reception is always friendly and efficient. Already became a friend actually. Colesberg is also a nice and clean town, and very conveniently halfway between our destinations.

Beds and bedding, bathrooms and utilities were all excellent. Our doggie Scruffles enjoyed frolicking in her own enclosed garden. The TV was a most welcome sight considering the much anticipated Springbok rugby match. The hospitality and kindness shown towards us after a somewhat difficult and tiring journey was much needed.
Toverberg Gastehuis offers a peaceful and pleasant stay. The part of the living unit allocated to us has a spacious bedroom with a double bed, a particularly tasteful sitting/dining room with DSTV, a fully equipped kitchen and a luxuriously renovated bathroom. Toverberg is strategically located near adjacent restaurants and in a particularly interesting cul de sac with numerous inhabited historic houses that are unique to the 'old' town. A locked garage is also available, while emergency lamps are available in every room during ESKOM antics. We can recommend Toverberg without reservation.

We spent the night in Colesburg a few years ago, were impressed and felt the village deserved more attention. This time we stayed 2 nights, again at Toverberg Guest Houses where Jurie welcomed us in a friendly and helpful manner. The extra day was worth it.

Toverberg Guest Houses is the ideal place to stay, conveniently close to the N1, but still far enough to ensure a peaceful stay. The house was well equipped with everything needed and the air conditioning helped a lot against the winter cold. The house is perfectly located, walking distance to quite a few restaurants. I can recommend Toverberg Guest Houses and would like to use the accommodation again in the future.
Maybe it's the Karoo air. Maybe it's the comfy beds with electric blankets. Maybe it's the excellent dinner we had in a restaurant just around the corner. But we slept very well at Toverberg. And simply enjoyed decent coffee the next morning before we hit the road again. We will definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay in Toverberg's beautiful two-bedroom house. The accommodation is equipped with everything one needs for a comfortable overnight stay - even in cold rainy weather it was warm and cosy. Secure parking too!

We were received very kindly and treated like honored guests throughout. The stay in the tasteful, comfortable and well-equipped unit - with a lock-up garage! - was a particularly pleasant experience. It really feels like stepping back in time - without missing anything. The accommodation is close to all services one may need, the Plattelander, a nice Karoo eatery, is within walking distance and fuel is available around the corner. We were kindly received. The unit is very homely and spacious, which made us feel very much at home. In the rainy weather, the fireplace was welcome. The lock up garage was a bonus. We recommend the accommodation.
We have been there 3 times already, always beautiful. All I would say is that the curtains or something smelled a bit dusty. Other than that, we can't complain, love the place.
The toilet door is a half door, does not close properly, and is not private if there are 2 people staying in the unit. The unit is much smaller than it appears in the photos.

The host thought of everything. enough power plugs, 2-point plugs, USB charger, fridge, freezer, comfortable beds, carpets etc. and everything was spotless. We used 2 of the 3 bedrooms in cottage 5. The cottage was clean, well equipped, tidy and met all the needs. 2 bathrooms are handy. Also air conditioners and heaters available so any time of the year it will be convenient to stay there.

Colesberg is ideally located for accommodation en route to the Eastern, Western or Southern Cape. We have stayed at Toverberg Gastehuis 4 times and can recommend it.

It was a privilege for us to spend the night at 15 Bell Street. The house is in perfect condition and the interior is nicely decorated. Everything is of high quality. We slept wonderfully because the mattress is of good quality and the bed linen is exceptional. The house is located in a very quiet area. There is no road noise. We would recommend Toverberg Guest House as a place to stay anytime.
Communication to confirm address on the day would be appreciated, the address on the website is in a field somewhere, had to Google to find address. Only after the time realized the address is clearly in the name of the unit. 5C Bell Street, but it was nice and slow.
A beautiful place with antique furniture. Full DStv, delicious filter coffee and fantastic sleep quality. I was received very hospitably and my car "slept" in a locked garage. I would definitely stay there again.
Toverberg Guest Houses offer the weary traveler a home, not just a place to sleep. House is tidy, small detail everywhere - even ground coffee. Lovely to sit under the shade of the big apricot tree after a long drive or to lie on the cool green grass. Not to mention the friendly reception. Restaurants, with Karook food, are within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again.

Professional and friendly reception. Beautifully restored and stylishly furnished house, with everything available that one can think of - for the coffee lovers to nut coffee! A lock-up garage where the car is safely parked, and nice biscuits for the morning coffee. A log fire (everything pre-packed, just needs to be lit) to keep the cold away. Highly recommended!

The little things are in the right place (like an electric plug to charge a mobile phone), no need to bend down and scratch to find one. A comfortable little table to work on.
We were very well received by Jurie. It was reassuring to sleep safely with burglar bars in front of windows and doors, and that our car was also safely parked with bright lights everywhere. Jurie thought of everything: candles and battery lights in case of load shedding, heaters in the living room and bathroom in case of cold, and although the worst of the Karoo cold was over, we appreciated the lovely electric blankets. We were grateful for the small fridge to store our road food, as well as the kettle and welcome tray with coffee and tea. Without sounding ungrateful, we wonder if a small kitchenette - even if only with a sink and two-plate gas burner - could not easily be installed in the spacious sitting-dining room?
Large apartment with a lovely comfortable bed, a nice fireplace for the cold winter evening, and special to sleep in such a historic house. Really value for money! Our car was also locked in a garage for the night.

15 Bell Street is such a comfortable cottage to discover Colesberg. Our two dogs enjoyed the securely fenced private yard after the long drive. Bordeaux restaurant down the street has fantastic country food.

It will also be a comfortable home to stay for a few days. Large fridge and freezer and the kitchen is fully equipped. You also do not have to unload your car because there is a garage available. We will definitely recommend Toverberg to friends.

Had a great stay. Very neat and clean. It's a lovely quiet street. Would only suggest they make washing up facilities in the sitting/dining room. If you want to rinse out a spoon or cup, you have to rinse it in the bathroom sink. Really all I would suggest.

We were warmly welcomed and lead to our room where we were shown all the ligth switches and controls. Afterwards we were shown the garage. We could come and go as we please and the keys were left in the designated spot upon departure.

It was lovely to get away from the city and experience the quiet of the Karoo in clean and safe accommodation. Only complaint is the noisy air-con in the room. Very nice to have in the hot Karoo summer, but the noise is disturbing.
I was surprised with the accommodation. Everything was thought through, clean and worked properly. Management knows exactly what their guests want. I highly recommend it.

Accommodation was neat, reception was friendly. To be able to check in until midnight makes it easier for people who come from far, in case something happens.

It was our fifth time here. Only problem was that the unit was not pet friendly. There are only cement outside and the pets had a hard time finding nice spots.

We were received very kindly and then left in peace - that's how we like it. The unit was adequate with all the necessary facilities after a long journey. There are even wall plugs that cater to every need. We would definitely like to stay there again.

The cottages are basically located in a dead end street with no view. The accommodation is pet friendly which favors animal lovers. However, for us it was a nightmare. My wife is hyper-allergic to dog and cat hair. The guests in the house next door brought 2 cats who came into the house while we were out and made themselves at home on the couches in the living room. There was almost no mention of our much-needed sleep. So the next morning we left early (and tired) with my wife in great discomfort with her swollen eye and lumps on her face. Excellent, but could have done with a hairdryer in the room.
For a halfway stop between George and Pretoria it was a good choice. Although the rooms are tiled and the ceilings are high, the rooms were delightfully warm due to the air conditioning. I would definitely stay there again.

Toverberg and Colesberg were a pleasant surprise! The guest house is located in the old part of the town, surrounded by beautiful, old-fashioned houses. Dawid, who received us on behalf of the owner, was friendly and very helpful. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend Toverberg.
Even though we arrived late in the evening, the welcome was warm and nothing was too much trouble. Our guest also pointed out where there are nice restaurants and how everything works in the house.

Welcomed appropriately. Had own little sitting room/dining room, with library, TV and this space & bedroom had overhead fans, and an air-conditioner (bedroom). Needs more powerful extractor fan in 'en suite' shower room. Pity that the shower room has no window. Comfortable beds, and situated in quiet side street. We shall go there again.

I know it was winter and water tends to freeze in the pipes, but overall the water pressure in the bathroom needs attention. Overall good, friendly service, safe parking and very good restaurant nearby.

My only criticism is that there is no washing up basin for dirty dishes. This could be a problem if one stayed for more than one night.
The guest house has everything a traveler needs, from coffee and tea to beautiful bedrooms, comfortable beds and very nice bathrooms. Enough towels and hot water, nice lounge.

We stayed at 5B Bell Street and there was no toilet door, and no breakfast was served to us - there were only rusks available in the room.

After a long journey, one just wants to unpack, have space, eat well and sleep clean and warm. Toverberg offers everything (except the meal), but even for this there are options. A short walk down the street and you can pick and choose what/where/how much you want to eat. We were kindly received, the rooms were spacious, clean and tidy, and everything was just right to rest for the rest of our trip.

Location good, bedrooms are basic but clean. Lounge overcrowded with old and unnecessary furniture. Safety measures were under question as I stayed in the last unit - by the open field - and hearing dogs barking during the night made me very worried.

Jurie was a great host and made my self and my wife feel very welcome. Toverberg was very easy to find after turning off the N1. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and the lock up facilities for the motor vehicle good.

We were welcomed and given our room immedietly despite Toverberg not being aware of our arrival/confirmation. In fact they gave us a bigger suite. Its location is within easy walking distance of at least three restaurants. We were most impressed by the facilities in the suite - one doesn't even get that in the so-called hotels. Well done Toverberg!
