It had been an incredible long weekend away.
We had a very nice stay. The mountains are breathtakingly beautiful! Ablutions are nice and clean and there is a lot to do in the area.
The facilities were clean. We had a great time camping with beautiful surroundings. Bouncy castle for the children kept them busy all day.
We as a family really enjoyed the stay. The view from our cottage was particularly beautiful. The house was equipped with everything we needed.
We stayed there. It was such a treat to be able to rest there among the mountains and celebrate our wedding anniversary. We stayed in the 2nd chalet. It was very clean and tastefully decorated and comfortable. The air cooling was a bonus. Most beautiful scenery and nice walk. Challenging hiking trail up the mountain. Good bird watching destination. Children would also have fun playing. Lots of game on site and also ponds for fishing. Quiet and peaceful. Good hosts.

The bathrooms were not cleaned every day and the dustbins outside were only cleaned once during our 9-day camping trip.

We camped, area was beautiful, neat and safe. We went on a hike with two teenagers and my parents who are almost 60, really beautiful views. We really enjoyed it. Thank you for being able to share that piece of earth with us.

We would definitely recommend the place and check in again. The hosts were friendly, very helpful and it was quite simply just fun for us! They thought of everything for the kitchen and there wasn't one little thing we needed that wasn't there. Air conditioning in the rooms, nice hot water, beautiful view and exactly what one needs.

Lots of potential for a more purposeful walk rather than walking the 4x4 route ─ but having said that it was a lovely walk! Not really suitable for mountain biking unless you are a champion rider. At that point ─ we decided to go out on the dirt road (northbound) and were attacked by the neighbors' dogs (one is a rottweiler) and it was very loud yelling on my part and hard pedaling for me woman to get away. This is not acceptable, this is a public road. We are so used to alternative energy during load shedding that we were a bit caught off guard with it. I would like to have only a gas stove (single plate is enough) available because if the power is off 18:00 - 20:30 it is very troublesome. The light worked fine, no problem with that. Again, please see as constructive comments.

All campsites have grass pitches that are excellently maintained. If you live close to nature, this is for you.
Perfectly located to drive from there in any direction and visit the sights. Maybe think about placing a garbage can by the sink. Water pressure in the ladies showers needs attention.

The chalet is comfortable with the most beautiful view over the valley and mountains. The peaceful farm environment with hiking trails and other activities can keep everyone busy.

Honest opinion: Would prefer to get more info on roads etc. after discussion. The road between Bethlehem and Fouriesburg is paved. S109 can be approached from 2 sides to Uitkyk. The one you drive 10 km dirt road to Uitkyk. The other 3 km. Quite important. We got the gate code after sitting outside for 20 minutes and someone happened to drive out. No signal in load shedding time. The wood and ice shop was closed every time we were there. No indication of times. We have not yet seen or met anyone from management or owners. The one room leaks like a sieve when it rains. We had to use pots and towels to stop. Would love to show the owners where. If you pay R15k for a week you would think there would be at least 1 bag of wood when you arrive. No one takes trash black bags away? The last 70 m of the road to house 4 is paved at a 35 degree slope. Luckily we had a 4x4. It was not mentioned with booking. Quite important. A front wheel drive vehicle will not be able to drive here. The view, farm and surroundings are fantastic. Would help if there are indications for sightseeing in the area. Cell signal when the power is off does not exist. Be prepared. Facilities are good. Everything worked and our week was good.

Incredibly beautiful and peaceful surroundings with a very nice chalet. It offers the true natural beauty and peacefulness of the Free State Highlands where you can fully relax.
Our cottage was clean, tidy and spacious on arrival. The most beautiful sunset and the singing birds with the delicious smell of wood was our welcome. We could barbecue on our porch and listen to the night sounds. We would definitely go again and recommend it. Time to breathe and become quiet. The cottage was well equipped with what you need. What we did miss were hangers for our clothes in the built-in closet. Bread board and a Tupperware in which we could store our leftover food. And maybe just a shelf in the bathroom on which you could pack your toiletries, and an extra hook to hang your clothes on.
The unit was very neat and clean, very well planned layout, well equipped with everything one could need and the view was breathtaking.

Uithoek is truly one of the very best gems I have ever visited, the stay in the chalets is unforgettable, because you feel the view and tranquility to the core, the adventure hiking trails and views from the very top of the Malotiberge on the farm must be experienced for yourself.

We were looking for tranquility and nature but didn't want to be too far from Clarens. Uithoek offered everything and more, the rooms were neat, clean and modern, best of all there were proper pillows. We were close enough to spend the day in Clarens and Golden Gate and come back to the beauty of Uithoek. Although we did not camp, the campsite is very tidy and the pitches are large. We will definitely be back in the summer to camp. Many thanks to JL's hospitality.
Lovely atmosphere suitable for resting. A nice lapa to sit and socialise around the braai. It was a little cold, but luckily we were warmly dressed for sitting around the campfire. Will definitely stay here again. The campsite is beautifully laid out with electricity points and the most beautiful views of the mountains. Ablution blocks are perfectly arranged, clean and neat. I would just suggest placing a towel or paper towels in the ablution facility to dry your hands.
The place was wonderfully quiet and peaceful for an off-season holiday with no more than 12 other campers. People are quiet on their own and don't play loud music. The ablution facilities were spotless and a pleasure to use. Unfortunately the weather is not in anyone's control, but the valley in which the site is located attracts terrible gusts and strong anchor ropes and tent pegs are recommended. Hot water runs out a bit at peak times, so plan your shower and washing-up routine carefully. At least there are not many people so the wait is not too long. Day visitors took over a bit on Christmas Day and simply parked between pitches - specific parking for day visitors is something that can be considered, day visitors also took over the swimming pool and campers stayed away. Perhaps the only improvement I can recommend is to keep day visitors and campers separate. Otherwise we had a great time camping and visiting.
