This is the second time we have stayed at Umtali Country Inn. The room was very clean and comfortable, good quality bedding and towels. The dinner was excellent and wine prices very reasonable. We can definitely recommend Umtali Country Inn.
The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Our delicious supper was brought to our room and the aircon and electric blankets helped to keep our room warm on a cold winter's night.
We were just travelling through Aliwal North. What a perfect place to stay. Very neat and the staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Even during load shedding they made coffee for us in the morning.

Great stay with friendly and helpful staff.
We spent the night there on our way to the Eastern Cape. We got there late but the restaurant served us a delicious dinner even though it was already time to close. We were very grateful after a long day on the road. I would recommend that (if possible) they tell guests what the load shedding schedule is for the day so that one can be prepared. We will definitely stay there again. Good service and value for money.

They went to great lengths to make my stay pleasant, even arranged for me to catch the F1 car race in my room.
I would just suggest that they provide anti-mosquito spray.
A bit far out of town if one is there for work/business, but it gives the advantage of silence. We were there on a Sunday afternoon or evening, so the place was very quiet. Assume it's meant more for businessmen. TV channels not to our taste, can do with KykNet too!
Ons het daar oornag soontoe/terug na/van ons vakansiebestemming. Op pad na ons bestemming die eerste keer het ons in 'n sterk reënbui daar aangekom. Die water op die erf van die Inn dreineer nie behoorlik nie en daar was oral modderplasse waardeur mens moes loop. Ook is daar nie vloermatjies buite die kamers nie, so die kamervloer het as gevolg daarvan maar taamlik sleg gelyk. Daar was geen ander oplossing as om 'n vloerhanddoekie wat vir die badkamer bedoel is te gebruik by die kamerdeur om jou voete aan af te vee nie. Dit was 'n taamlike gemors. Ons het die kamer wel baie skoon en netjies ontvang met die nodige skoon handdoeke ens. So wat hulle aanvanklike kamervoorbereiding aanbetref is daar geen fout nie. Die grootste probleem is die feit dat die storte lank vat om warm water te gee (ek vermoed dit is gas storte) en wanneer daar wel warm water is dan kan jy kies tussen slegs warm water wat jou verbrand of koue water wat taamlik ongemaklik is. Daar is geen middeweg nie. So ek het maar telkens die koue water gekies - ongemak is beter as om verbrand te word. My dogter en haar man, asook my seun en my 84 jarige ma het saam die oornagfasiliteite benut (altesaam 4 verskillende kamers) en ons almal het presies dieselfde ervaring met die storte gehad. Dus wat ek die meeste kon onthou van my ervaring hier is die koue storte. Vandaar die naam "Cold shower Inn". Met die terugkomslag was die krag af in die nag, so tussen 11uur die nag en 6uur die oggend. Ons los gewoonlik 'n lig vir my bejaarde moeder aan deur die nag aangesien sy angsbevange en verward kan word in die donker. Ek het net so ongeveer 12 uur die nag 'n geroep gehoor in die kamer langs my, aangesien my 84 jarige moeder nie haar pad badkamer toe kon vind in die donker nie. Gelukkig ry ek 'n noodlig saam met my. Ek twyfel baie sterk of dit beurtkrag was want daar sou nie tydens die feesseisoen beurtkrag wees nie. Die feit dat dit presies oor die nag was maak my vermoed dat die Inn die krag afskakel deur die nag om krag te bespaar. Vir die prys het ek al by soortgelyke gastehuise klein bietjies vars melk gehad vir die tee/koffie, maar daar was net Kremora. Nou nie regtig my idee van 'n goeie koppie koffie nie. So, oor die algemeen was ons besoek aan Umtali Country Inn, nie 'n baie goeie ervaring nie.

Clean, well laid out rooms, easy check-in. The shower is not great. All in all a perfect place to stay in Aliwal North.
Safe parking, spotless and nice rooms. Fast and friendly service. Lovely warm and clean bedding with a convenient fridge, kettle and coffee in the room. It was a lovely evening in our beautiful room.
