Would perhaps have liked a fireplace especially with the freezing weather of the weekend but otherwise the room was very comfortable.
The unit was very clean and tidy. The daily maid service was a bonus. The fireplace warmed the atmosphere and the supply of enough wood was also convenient. The breakfast that was served in the room every morning was a great treat. Upper House is excellently centrally located in the town.
DStv didn't work, 1 side of electric blanket doesn't work, underfloor heating doesn't work in room, only in bathroom, porch very dirty with bird's droppings, seat of outdoor chair broken, breakfast table in the bedroom can't unfold, hinges lame! Would not want to stay there again anytime soon.

Upper House is everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing and comfy stay in Clarens. Here one is properly spoiled with extras such as the delicious breakfast in the room, a craft with sherry to enjoy by the fireplace, biscuits with nut coffee and a full DStv package. Rooms are very tastefully furnished, good quality linen and spotlessly clean. Location is ideal as it is within walking distance of the business district. Natalie and her staff are very pleasant and spare no effort to spoil their guests.

Holiday and/or getaway - usually because one then needs rest and/or needs to relax and to clear your head. Preferably on the same standard as your own home or better (this is if your are not the adventure type anymore and your idea of rough is a black and white TV with DStv channels). First impressions of a place stays and from the moment you arrive you have to want to stay. A friendly reception is always the first step. The place then preferably needs to be clean and neat. The aesthetic is then always of importance. Upper House's hostess - 10; cleanliness - 10; decor and style - 10; breakfast - an artwork! Excellent and strongly recommend!

From the outside the place doesn't look like much, but inside it's absolutely fantastic. Als is nicely done, and the quality is very good. It is also suitable for very cold weather, you will sleep deliciously warm. The view is beautiful and it's nice and close to everything for walking. We are in love with the place and would recommend it to anyone!
We really enjoyed the weekend. The accommodation is luxurious and has everything you need. The fireplace creates a lovely atmosphere and the bathroom is of spa quality. What bothers is the little/no privacy outside. The property is completely open from the street frontage. The rooms' windows are not private at all. One has to keep the curtains closed, otherwise everyone looks in. I think this will bother some people. I can only suggest that the owner looks into the privacy. I would recommend the guest house with a condition regarding the privacy.

Beautiful guest house close to everything. The music channels were a bonus! Most places don't have the music channels on DStv - I prefer that to watching TV and would rather listen to music. The fireplace was lovely. There was also filter coffee and not just the usual instant coffee. Classically furnished with good quality linen. Will definitely visit Upper House again.
We had a wonderful stay in Church Annex. It is excellently equipped with modern furniture and a lovely fireplace. The room is spacious with a good view of the mountains. Every morning we had fresh fruit and muesli for breakfast and delicious biscuits. Natalie made us feel so welcome and we could call her number anytime if we had any questions. We would definitely stay at Upper House again and highly recommend it as top walking distance accommodation in Clarens!
The place is so spacious and offers absolutely 5-star service. Their 2 bedroom unit is modern with a good location and all the businesses are within walking distance. It's private with a homely and spacious atmosphere and its own well-kept garden. Definitely a must for our next visit.
