We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Gatsby Suite was spacious and excellently equipped. The view over the pool was also lovely. Didn't know breakfast was included in the price, but the friendly staff spoiled us with a delicious hot breakfast.
We had a pleasant stay at Villa Simonne recently when I treated my husband to a weekend away. They have a beautiful garden and uniquely themed, small venue spaces on the premises. The staff were friendly and helpful and had no problem assisting me with a hairdryer when I noticed our room didn’t have one. With that said, the room amenities could do with a few essential additions, like a hairdryer and some basic cutlery and crockery. Our unit had a small kitchen, fitted with an oven, stovetop, microwave, kettle and small fridge. There was however nothing in the cupboards but two coffee cups and two small glasses, which proved to be bit of a challenge when we sat down to eat our order-in dinner the first night of our stay. We also experienced some discomfort with wasps entering our room from nearby nests. With a little bit of TLC, Villa Simonne could be a gem in the Houghton area.

Gatsby Room needs a proper shower. Complex, since previous visit, needs maintenance, but understandable with 2020 issue.
I was phoned on the day that we checked in to say that the Jacuzzi in the room did not work and that they will upgrade us to the presidential suite free of charge with free turn down service. We did appreciate the gesture a lot. On arrival, the staff was very helpful and friendly and also throughout our stay. The Jacuzzi in the room where we were upgraded too, however also didn't work. There were also no booklets in the room to inform us on how to operate devices in the room or to give information about the hotel or surrounding locations or attractions and we were also not given the Wi-Fi password. When we phoned reception to get the password, my husband however could not hear the receptionist on the line. When we asked the first morning at breakfast how dinner works and whether they had a menu and whether the bar would be open in the evening, the manager however just said that bars open for functions and that dinner can be provided, however no menu was given to decide whether or not we would like to eat at the hotel. This would've been better value for money if the hostess gave more attention to fixing broken Jacuzzi's, which was also the reason why we chose Villa Simonne for our anniversary in the first place. The decor however is beautiful and staff attentive but attention to needs of the guest would be appreciated.

Had a very pleasant evening at Villa Simonne. The employees were all very very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy. The bartender came to serve us by the pool and regularly checked that our drinks were still ready. The dinner (Salmon steaks) was deliciously prepared at a reasonable price with very large portions. The facilities on site and in the rooms are excellent. We really enjoyed it, and would definitely stay there again. Thank you!
The WiFi didn't work. Bedding was clean but there were dead spiders under the pillows. Small detail like only one sherry glass and dirty bathroom rug was not what I expected. The garden and outdoor facilities are not maintained. It's dirty and full of dust. The tablecloths have holes in them. The breakfast that was included was either the previous day's left overs or cooked for 3 hours too long. Service was good and friendly staff.

We really enjoyed our stay in Villa Simonne and will most likely go back again if we have to do something nearby in the area again. The place is very unique, but also comfortable at the same time. The staff always make you feel welcome and comfortable. Our room was great when we walked in and had everything for a night or two stay (comfortable mattresses and bedding). I would only recommend that they do a renovation for the bathroom, let it fit in with the rest of the bedroom. The rest of the place in villa Simonne was amazing and has good different themes. Any recommendations for the place itself is that it's nearing its time for a paint job outside, but otherwise we'll be back for sure.

They were just a bit unhappy because of the internet network, but they couldn't stop talking about the hospitality and location of the villa. They will definitely go back.
The hotel can keep you busy for a whole day with all the nooks and crannies to explore. Pub and meals are good. Needs a bit of maintenance, very old.
