Not at all, front door couldn't lock. I booked and paid for 2 nights, and the hostess asked us the next day what time we would be leaving. You see the sea when you stand on your tiptoes and peer over the woods. Very misleading advertisement. The hostess also asked if we were going to pay the difference after we paid in full at Lekkelsaap.

From the start Greta made us feel welcome. Our place was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable and we could relax and unwind. The area is so safe you can go for walks late afternoon and early morning. Great place to stay! Close to all that is going on in Port Alfred. I loved their dog Shandy (Labrador) and just wanted to take her home with me. Such a sweetie! Greta is really a great host and anyone will feel welcome.

Even though the beach is just across the street it's not 40 m far as advertised. You have to walk about 700 to 800 m looking for an entrance to the beach, or drive there to be able to walk on the beach - which isn't easy. From the downstairs apartments you can basically see only the top part of the ocean, not the beach itself, because of the dunes in front of the accommodation. The top flat would give you a proper view. The apartments are very beautiful, neat and spacious.

Friendly reception, with this beautiful sea view. Just walk across the road and the waves break right here in front of you. Would recommend that the upper floor units be booked first if you want to holiday there, as the lower ones have the beautiful sea view blocked by sand covered bushes. From the top it is breathtaking! Place was clean, simple and has everything you need. Just one small problem, if you want to take a lot of meat, ice etc., you won't have room in the fridge and the freezer is very small. There are no physically built-in braai facilities, so arrange ahead of time whether you can use the portable braai. I happily recommend the rest.

Communication with hostess before arrival was good. We were kindly received and the facilities in the apartment were shown to us. The apartment is comfortable, and close to the beach - you just walk across the state. The center of Port Alfred is not accessible on foot - unless you want to walk 3 km! The apartment is very humid which gives rise to mould. A moisture absorber was open, but we didn't notice its influence until the second day. Unfortunately, the facilities were not as clean as I would have liked: some of the cutlery still had small food residues on it, the soap dish in the shower had soap residue and there was a "high water mark" in the shower. One gets the impression that the person who cleaned does not have an eye for detail. Nothing we couldn't fix soon though! There wasn't a braai place at the apartment, but I didn't ask for it either. It does show as available under the facilities.

"Waste of money, as it is totally misrepresented online. The "luxury 5 sleeper" is only a bachelor's unit. The units needs lots of maintenance. The chairs, cutlery, kitchen equipment, outside lights are all broken and dates back to the 80’s. Even the toilet did not flush. Besides this, it feels like staying in someone's backyard ..."

Wavecrest is totally misrepresented online. Firstly, this expensive, “luxury” Whale Watch and Divers Den unit is a bachelor’s unit with no separate room and the bed is separated from the fridge by a “divider”. The bathroom is therefore not “en-suite” since it leads from the open area and only equipped with a shower. On arrival, the “en-suite” toilet did not work and it was expected from us to go outside, down very steep and slippery stairs to use a toilet “downstairs”, definitely not suitable for my pregnant wife. Greta indicated that they can only repair the toilet after a week, but since we stayed for 6 days, and after an uncomfortable argument with an arrogant Greta, the toilet was fixed that day (it was even suggested that we leave if we do not want to accept it to use the toilet downstairs). The kitchen must be represented as a “kitchenette” since it is not fully equipped, only has a 2 plate stove/oven, basics such as a sharp knife or mitten cloths are not supplied, the plates and bowls are all cracked already and the bread toaster did not work either (was replaced after 3 days). The unit is definitely not “luxury” as all the furniture and decor dates back to the 80’s (except for the TV and one newly built cupboard). I had to replace the outside lights as they did not work and there is no safe parking as someone tried breaking into my vehicle on day one – since the only parking is in the driveway in front of Greta’s garage (which she uses numerous times per day). There is definitely also not “24 hour security”. This unit is advertised as a “3 adult and 2 children sleeper” unit, but the dining table only has 2 chairs as well as the “living area”, therefore not more than 2 people can ever dine together or sit and relax to look at the sea. The plastic table and chairs on the balcony are also broken. The fact that Greta stays on the property is a nuisance as you will be waken up before 9 am to “put off the outside lights”. This unit is not even equipped with an air conditioner. The 30 cm compact “braaier” will also not enable you to braai for 5 people. There is also not “wifi” as advertised. The fact that the sewerage tank was also full resulted in a sewerage smell throughout the unit. The ONLY positive of Wavecrest is the view of the sea. This unit may be used (at a much cheaper rate) for overnight staying but must definitely NOT be your final destination, as you will be highly disappointed. Unfortunately we will not visit Wavecrest ever again.

Everything was clean, tidy, up to standard and the pictures on the site accurately reflect what we received. We will recommend this beautiful sunny spot in heaven to anyone. The kitchen's facilities are few and the cooking facilities not good enough. That lower room is not worth the extra money. The service is minimal, because our unit was not serviced at all and the towels were not changed. The knives in the kitchen are all blunt and the oven and two-plate stove are not sufficient for a long stay. The area is very "nice" and it's really by the sea.

Having never been to Port Alfred before we didn't know what to expect. However we were very pleasantly surprised at the lovely accommodation on offer. The rooms were tastefully furnished with modern décor. The shower bathrooms lovely, tiled and sparkling! Kitchenette adequate tho' a couple of frying pans wouldn't go amiss and possibly a mop!! Beautiful view from the balcony of the sea - in fact the main profile picture is taken from our balcony! Greta Snaith was an absolute angel and so helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back when we fetch our son from Rhodes on his vacations! Thank you so much for a lovely stay!
