101 guests' feedbackA very neat house and I had the option to exchange my room for one with a bathroom with a shower. My general feeling with my room was very good. Spacious and clean. However, the kitchen is not up to standard. I chose the option for dinner but would not recommend it.
We had a great stay and had the whole house to ourselves.

The room I chose was very comfortable, clean and tidy, but I was disappointed when I got there and no one was there to receive me. I was on the road for 10 hours and had no help carrying my stuff either. The woman who let me in didn't give me much information and then left and left the front door open. After a long day I wanted to take a bath but I couldn't and when I showered there was only cold water. I was a little unsure about the alarm and I was a woman alone in a guest house in a town where I don't know anyone. It was a bit strange, but I was safe that night.

Very neat and conveniently located. We stayed here on our way home from Cape Town and this was the perfect stopover. The optional dinner was also very tasty and good value for money.
We had a nice big, comfortable room. Everything you need for an overnight stay. We had the most delicious dinner. Drove very early, so unfortunately couldn't do breakfast either.

It was New Year's Eve and I had a long day's travel behind me. I was the only one in the guest house and it was extremely quiet, except for a bomb cracker that went off at exactly 12 o'clock! Room extremely neat and clean. Had a good rest before I drove on next morning.
This is an excellent place to stop over on the way to Cape or Bay from Gauteng. Conveniently close to the N1, but still quiet and peaceful. Be sure to stop by Snobs for coffee the next morning. Both the dinner and breakfast were good value for money (very nice "home cooking").
We needed a place to sleep on the way back from the sea. Willow's Rest met us with good and friendly service, and a spacious sleeping place and bathroom, thank you very much!
We had a nice stay, would just like a shower instead. wanted a bath in the bathroom. Our room had an "en suite" bathroom. Parking area may be a problem because limited space.

The guest house is in a quiet street and because we were the only people there, we were able to rest wonderfully in a beautiful room. Yvonne, the manager, received us generously and looked after us so well! I can recommend this guest house for sure.

I was travelling from North West to Bloemfontein. I left NW after 17:00, planning to be at the guesthouse around 19:00. Unfortunately, due to several roadworks I was delayed. I only got to Bloem after 21:00. However, the staff patiently waited for my arrival. My appreciation and respect to the staff. I will definitely recommend the place to all my friends/family.

Very friendly accommodating staff. Had all we needed in our room, even activities for the kids in the lounge. Had dinner there and it was very tasty and reasonably priced.

The place was very clean and tidy and we were received very hospitably. The dinner was just incredibly unpalatable from long frozen food.
The house is tidy, friendly reception and a nice overnight stay. The neighbors and surroundings were noisy and we were worried at first, but at least their New Year parties died down during the evening/night (which we understood). The town is rapidly falling into disrepair like many others in the country and feel so sorry for the owners who want to run a good business but should not deter prospective visitors. Would recommend the guest house and would stay there again. Thank you very much.
Warm welcome and delicious dinner after a long day on the road. Perfect stopover between the Cape and Gauteng.
Affordable accommodation in safe, homely surroundings.
We received a very warm welcome and the venue was very tranquil.
The only problem is if you don't book all 4 rooms, you don't know who you will be sharing the house with. Fortunately, the family who did book the other two rooms were also very friendly and pleasant. However, we were too late to book the King & Queen suites and therefore had no TV in our rooms. However, the landlady made us a mattress available for my son to sleep on as there was no other bed available. We booked on very short notice. The house had been spotlessly clean.
Quiet place, neat.
We found another place for the same price that was 8 times bigger with its own kitchen and bathroom and away from the other people. Willow's Rest you get a small room against other people in the same house, and 4 rooms have to share the same bathroom. It was very uncomfortable.
We are on our way to Gordons Bay and have decided to spend the night twice on the way. Personally, I think our choice with Willows Rest was spot on. We got a very neat room with bath and shower facilities and a very comfortable bed.

Not up to standard with other venues. They offer a room in a residential house where the bathroom is shared between three rooms. It was not mentioned in the description at all.

The floor in the bathroom is very smooth and we recommend a different type of carpet, which does not slide so easily. Powdered milk or Cremora will complete the coffee tray.
Friendly staff, room was clean every time with new towels in the bathroom. Bed is comfortable and emergency light works with load shedding.

One negative thing - there was an intermittant strange noise all the time (like water flowing through pipes) which was a bit disturbing.

Willow's Rest is a hidden diamond in a small town. The rooms and bathrooms were very nicely done with everything one would need. Each room has its own kettle and coffee facilities, making coffee in bed nice and easy. The garden was very nice, although I worry if there will be enough parking if the house is full.
Pleasant, easily accessible. Dinner was delicious - would recommend that guests take advantage of this as there are no other places to eat.
Felt there should have been some sort of backup for outages. A small gas cylinder would have provided hot water for welcome coffee when we got there. Also would have been nice to have met the owner. Directions were also complicated through the town.
Ate, slept and showered deliciously at Willow's Rest. Very quiet area. Yvonne received me kindly and provided a lovely dinner. Would love to stay with you again.

There was no door on the en-suite bathroom and all the facilities were visible, there no privacy whatsoever. Also neighbours dogs continually barked throughout the night.
There was a 12 hour power outage. There was also no water in the taps. After 3 hours without power I called the manager when it was her duty to come and talk to us. At least she should have provided a 5 lt bottle of water. We know that power outages are out of her control, but then you communicate with your guests.
Willow's Rest is a wonderful guest house. Beds are lovely, as well as pillows and bedding. The bathroom is spacious and has everything you need. The garden a loop court for a dry world. The guest house has a warm atmosphere and feels like walking into your home. I like to sleep in a different guest house each time, but came back for this one on my return trip. I forgot my ID, credit card and driver's license in room, they kept it safe for me and sent it to me by courier. I really appreciated it! I would recommend them everywhere and will definitely use them again!

We slept very well in a king-size bed with our own bathroom and a large bath. Will definitely stay there again. The outside of the house does not look as nice as the inside of the house. Everything was spotless. It was very nice.
If you want to spend the night in a quiet, peaceful environment and rest after a long journey, this is still the ideal place to sleep over. It's quiet and peaceful. The house itself is big and tidy. The room I slept in was large. Enough space to move around. And then a window that lets in enough light. And you could also look out over the beautiful garden. What also impressed me quite a bit is that my room had a hygiene spray. So right in the place to fight Covid.
Hostess was helpful in retrieving items that were left behind.

I didn't realize I had to make specific arrangements for dinner so I had to go find takeaway, but the breakfast was very nice. I was alone so there was no company, so I would have liked a TV in the living room to while away the time. The GPS took me out of town in the opposite direction from Willow's Rest. Perhaps it would be a good idea to mention somewhere on the website that the street address should be used.
Beautiful stop over for tired travellers, with all the comforts to make you feel at home. We will definitely recommend to our friends.

Willow's Rest exceeded all expectations. Very good value for money, very neat place. Rooms and bathroom were great. I would even recommend the food that Yvonne makes for you in the evening. So plate food (with pudding) was worth it.
I arrived late and they went out of their way to accommodate me. Would recommend them anytime. Clean, tidy and made to feel very welcome.
I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodation provided. My bedroom was perfect. It had a large main en suit bathroom with shower, bath and toilet. I had a wonderful sleep on a good mattress. Staff were friendly and the room was clean. Meal was hot and tasty. Safe parking provided on the premises.

We booked 3 double rooms and it was important to us that at least two of the rooms had en-suite bathrooms as advertised. However, this is not how it is: only one of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom and the rest of the rooms/guests share a common bathroom. We were unhappy about this as it is not how it is described. Our room didn't have a key either.

I might be stepping on some toes, but Willow's Rest is very neat. At least my room was. Otherwise I just saw the hall. The owner doesn't live there, but someone came to open the door for me. They were very accommodating, seeing as I only arrived at 22:00 in the evening.
A very suitable halfway house if you are leaving Johannesburg after work on your way to the south - approximately four hours and thirty minutes journey. Beautiful and comfortable room with all the necessary facilities. Delicious dinner on request. Very friendly host and hostess. Suddenly brings you back to Free State country hospitality. Highly recommended.
