27 guests' feedbackGood things: Joe was an excellent host. The staff are friendly and do their job without being in the way. The area is peaceful and beautiful. WiFi is nice and strong. The house is neat and clean. Everything works that should work. My dog (a Weimeraner) ran wonderfully and enjoyed himself. The dogs on site also made themselves at home and shared in the dog biscuits. We enjoy it when other people's animals are comfortable with us. We really enjoyed the silence and the view is exceptional from our porch. Things that bother: If you advertise that you are pet friendly, I suggest they invest in dark colors for beds. Red soil and light colors in the house simply do not work. Remember, my dog and a two-year-old toddler are on the same level when it comes to getting dirty. The showers need a proper scrub. There was black moss and the drainage took an awfully long time. It is difficult to shower in quick succession because the water drains hopelessly too slowly. Please note, we shower very little.
Very relaxing and quaint. The doggies particularly loved the visit, and they were safely fenced in.
We had a great stay, lots to do in the area.
We had a really good time, Lorraine and Joe are very friendly and helpful. Our dog loved the place. The cabin is well equipped, just a bit hot during the day but there is a nice pool to cool off in.

We were kindly welcomed by Lorraine. This is an ideal place if you want to get away with your dogs, each unit is fenced and they enjoy running around outside. The unit is well equipped with a full kitchen, TV, VCR, fireplace and double bed. Also a porch to have a good time.
Great getaway just around the corner from the city. Well furnished wooden house with fireplace, boma area and braai facilities. Lovely pool relaxation area. Was a perfect, romantic getaway place.

Woodland Gardens is a perfect getaway from the busy life and it’s just over an hour’s drive from Johannesburg.
It was quiet, romantic and peaceful with the beautiful gardens and friendly loving dogs that looked after us well. Outdoor pool was nice and the lots of rain was a blessing.
We were warmly welcomed by Joe the owner. What an absolute disappointment! The photos on the website are absolutely misleading. The house where we stayed is very small. The kitchen appliances are stored in decrepit cupboards. The staff working there are very friendly and the house was cleaned very efficiently each day. Although we stayed there in the winter, the swimming pool was not in working condition.
A lovely venue close to Johannesburg but in the country. People are friendly and have all the requirements needed for that short breather out of the city. Only complaint was we were not advised that mosquitoes are hectic and thus had not brought repellent with us, although the owners did offer us Tabard if needed.
Affordable getaway in nature with all the necessary facilities in the unit. Dogs didn't bother us for one moment. Will definitely be returning.

Woodland Gardens reminded us of a "hippie" paradise. Feel free to pack a picnic basket and enjoy the unique character it offers and grill some meat on their very well-maintained barbecue facilities.
Apart from the mosquitoes the first night, which bothered us a lot, the rest of our stay was very pleasant. We got repellant and slept like kings the next night. Customer service was excellent, very pleasant owners.
We really enjoyed the few days. Accommodation was very good. Nice among the trees. The big dogs welcomed us every day.
On the internet the place looked very nice. First, the directions were wrong and we ended up on a dirt road. When we got there the reception was SUPER friendly and it was very nice. Lorraine was super helpful and went out of her way to accommodate us. The cottage we stayed in, Ibis, was OK. The front door was hard to open and close so my guy had to get up and do it every time because I'm a woman and couldn't get it open. The kitchen's trash can didn't have a lid, so when we threw away food, flies swarmed around the trash can. Not so nice. The premises have many dogs that live there, which is very nice because it helps with safety. And yet on the other hand, the dogs were with us all the time and they played on the porch of our house and therefore disturbed our afternoon naps. Every time we barbecue, they are there and it disturbs. And with the dogs constantly lying on the porch, they attract more flies which does not help the situation. We laid down by the pool for a while because it was nice and warm and it's a nice pool and nice and quiet. Unfortunately it was only quiet for the first 10 min until the dogs noticed we were there and then they kept coming and throwing branches at us because they wanted to play. Look, I love dogs, but when I go away for a break from the city, I just want to lie down and relax. I don't want to entertain dogs and yell and run away all the time. But good. The shower door in the bathroom can't close because it falls out of the wall, causing me to slip on the floor because the whole floor is wet when you shower. I also couldn't move the shower head, so all the water sprays out the door. There was nothing one could do about it. At least once you are in the shower, the water pressure is very good. The water is also nice and warm because the cold tap didn't want to work. I turned the cold tap all the way on and nothing happened. Lorraine (the manager) then arrived to call the dogs for dinner. My guy then said the faucet wasn't working, and she said we should just pull the faucet towards us and then turn it on. I then did so, but forgot that the tap was already fully turned on and there I froze to death because then it sprayed like Victoria Falls! The bathroom door also has trouble closing but with all my weight thrown against it I managed to pull the door shut every time. Cool, then it started raining on Monday night and then the whole bed was wet because the roof was leaking! By then my guy is pissed and he just wants to drive. I then refuse that we drive at 21:00 in the evening in the bad weather. The outdoor pool at Ibis looked super nice but due to the weather I couldn't try the romantic pool. Very sad about that, but that's the way it is. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. But yeah, I'll never be able to try the bath now because my guy will never let us go back. Furthermore, the place is perfectly located, because it's not that far to drive from Pretoria, but it's far enough to feel like you're on holiday.
The place is a very nice place to break away from one's busy life. It is very peaceful and feels like you are alone in a forest. If you like animals there are many cute dogs that will keep you busy too. The Ibis Chalet is a really nice chalet and you will not be disappointed.
It was a nice warm weekend, in a comfortable and well equipped chalet. Owners were friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the massage and went horseback riding on Sunday morning.
The unit is well equipped with a fireplace which is a winner.
We really loved and enjoy our stay. The place was neat, we were warmly welcomed. The weather was a bit chilly and the fireplace came in handy. The place is quiet and close to a big Spar and Wimpy. I loved the place.
